James K Chapman, a Seasoned Business General Manager with over 30 years of global strategic and tactical bottom line contribution at companies including GE, Borg Warner M A Hanna Company and FMC Corporation.

Mr. Chapman has over fifteen years of direct Profit and Loss responsibility. Core strength in manufacturing complemented by diversified functional experience with particular expertise in: Business Strategy, Organizational Development, Global Leadership, Acquisitions /Integration, Leading Edge Manufacturing and Joint Ventures. Business Strategy:

Over twelve years of direct P&L business responsibility for specialty materials businesses as large as $400m in sales.

  • Implemented a value product positioning strategy featuring a customer equity approach to business development and value pricing for a specialty polymer additives business. Supported this strategy Implementing new manufacturing technology, creating a streamlined supply system that not only supported the customer relationships but delivered cost reduction as well.
  • Developed a business plan for a startup company in the polymer additives business, including a full opportunity assessment through primary market research, combined with manufacturing and technology evaluations. A full business plan has been delivered

Operational Excellence:

Seventeen years of manufacturing leadership responsibilities from chemical engineer to manufacturing leader for a multi-plant 1800 person operation supporting over $1B in sales.

Acquisitions/Integration:
Direct experience in the acquisition and integration of two billion-dollar plastics companies.

  • As VP Operations for both a Global Coatings and a Plastics Company restructured plants, creating focused factories within factories implementing behavior based safety programs driving OSHA Recordable rates below 1.0. while streamlining supply chain.
  • Helped lead the integration of GE Plastics and Borg Warner Manufacturing operations into a world class supply organization. Helped implement "Work Out" process and introduction of A Best Practices approach for the organization
  • Lead restructuring of three different manufacturing operations involving facility closure. Achieved cost reduction while maintaining customer service.
  • Led the integration of six specialty businesses to create one. Involved with due diligence and evaluation of acquisition targets

Global Leadership

Hands on leadership for marketing sales and manufacturing of various products in Europe Latin America and Asia with four different businesses.

  • Built and started up new polymer and company facility in Mexico.
  • Helped develop and implement a new commercial plastics organization in Mexico City.
  • Led marketing and sales for plastics across Central and South America, nearly doubling sales over a three year period.

Organizational Development

  • Designed and implemented a new organization, centralizing functions integrating new associates with key personnel from the six founding companies. Led a team building process assimilating the team and focusing energy around a full portfolio business strategy.

Information Systems

  • Commissioned and provided leadership for the development and introduction of a customer resource management business process and supplying software systems.
  • Oversaw implementation of SAP, ERP system.
